The Urban Sustainability Extension Service (USES)
our mission
The Urban Sustainability Extension Service (USES) brings Hunter College and community partners together to develop neighborhood-scale sustainability initiatives. The work of USES is a direct reflection of the Institute’s mission to look at cities as part of the solution to global sustainability challenges, as well as its focus on the potential for ecosystem services to benefit and serve low-income, urban communities. Currently, we work with cultural, governmental, and environmental organizations including El Museo del Barrio in East Harlem and Sustainable South Bronx in the Bronx to address community needs and build local capacity.
